January Goals Met :) :)

I have met my January goals, phew!! One of them was to finish block #8 on Christmas of Hawk Run Hollow which is pictured below. Now I get to choose which block I'll work on next.

Here is a pic of the whole piece so far.

Below are my January goals:
1. Finish Block #8 of Christmas of Hawk Run Hollow - DONE
2. Finish Town by The Workbasket - DONE
3. Finish Friendship by Glory Bee - DONE
4. Finish a motif on Quaker Halloween - DONE
5. Make progress on Once Upon A Time - DONE
Yeah!! I met them all. These were hefty goals for me, especially since I was mainly focusing on Once Upon A Time. I'm not sure I liked the pressure of these goals but they did make me get a lot of stitching done :).

St. Petersburg White Nights

This is St. Petersburg White Nights by Chatelaine. It is one of Martina's mandalas and it is my nemesis. This piece is so beautiful but very intense and difficult on the dark blue linen. Once done I know this will be stunning but I also know I will never do another mandala. I'm on parts 5, 6 & 7 depending on what corner you're looking at. I started this about 4 years ago when it wasn't available to buy publicly. I am hoping to finish this within the next 2 years (don't want to put too much pressure on myself).

Thanks for stopping by and oh by the way, we're going to get somewhere in the vicinity of 12-20 inches of snow tomorrow. Ugghhh, I need spring to be here.

Her Beau is growing

Well, I started on the man and he's growing nicely. I got caught up on the beading since "Bob" arrived. I just love stitching this piece, but time to put it away for a little bit.

I enjoy reading all of your blogs but it is making me want to stitch so many things and I already have "tons" of stuff to stitch. But it's so nice seeing everybody's taste and stitching.

Thanks for stopping by to visit.

Bob has arrived :)

My Tacky Bob has finally arrived, along with some other stitchy things. I had to order Paradise Lost by Plum Street Samplers, I first saw this done on Siobhan's blog and knew I had to stitch it. And I ordered the last Christmas Ornaments magazine, I've only ever stitched a few Christmas ornies and one of my goals for this year is to stitch up several.

I've had several people ask me what a Tacky Bob is, so I've taken some pictures of what they look like and how they work. Below is the closed Tacky Bob.

Below is the open Tacky Bob.
Italic
Here is the open Tacky Bob with the beads on the sticky part. They don't roll around, they don't fall off, they stay put until you stitck your needle into a bead and gently lift it off.

A Tacky Bob is an stitching essential for me.
I hope this has been helpful to those who asked.
Thanks for stopping by and visiting.

Update and More Snow :( :(

I've been working on Block #8 on Christmas of Hawk Run Hollow. One of my January goals is to get this block finished. I am not doing the blocks in numerical order. I LOVE Carriage House Samplings but I've found it difficult to decipher the symbols for thread color on this pattern. They have many symbols that are very similar and I just can't tell what color I am supposed to be using, so I'm using a fair amount of guess work in some areas.

This is what the whole piece is looking like right now.

We are in the midst of another snowstorm, prediction is 5-10 inches. We're always on the higher end of any prediction. We already have 5 inches and it's supposed to snow until late tonight. And then another storm on Friday, arrgghh, enough already. I need spring and sunshine.

Another Finish and A Winning Chart

Here is my second finish of the year. Sorry I didn't edit the picture but I'm too tired to do it now. This sat untouched for a VERY long time for one specific reason......lambswool......that is what it is stitched on and it is the stiffest linen in the world, I hate it. I would never stitch on lambswool again. I changed up some of the colors but mostly stuck with the pattern.

Town
The Workbasket
32 ct Lambswool
GAST
Began ~ 10-2-08
Finished ~ 1-15-11

A couple of weeks ago I won Hares' Christmas from Myra and it arrived in the mail today. I will stitch this up this year. Thank you Myra!

Still No Bob

I still haven't received my Tacky Bob so no beading but I've been stitching. I love stitching this piece and she looks just like my daughter! I couldn't get into work today because of the snow so I stitched most of the day (something I rarely do).

We got about 19 inches of snow today. This is a picture of our back deck, it doesn't really show the ginormous amount of snow we got. As I get older I like winter less and less.

First Finish for 2011

I have stitched this for a very good friend of mine. She also happens to be the person who does all my framing, so......that's means I'll have to frame this one myself (not looking forward to it, I hate framing). I did change some of the colors and am very happy with the results. She doesn't know I've started this blog yet, so I need to get this finished and give it to her before I tell her.

Friendship
Glory Bee
30 ct R and R Reproductions "Irish Creme"
Gentle Arts Threads/DMC Variations
Start 2-9-10
Finish 1-11-11

A Quaker Halloween Sampler

This is "A Quaker Halloween Sampler" by Cherished Stitches. I started this back in March of 2010. I'm stitching this on a 35ct linen (no name) from Vicky Clayton with Olde Willow Stitchery threads. I LOVE this linen, the mottling is perfect for a halloween piece. It's supposed to be a monochromatic piece but I'm doing it in different colors that I like. Love the way it's coming out so far.

No Tacky Bob.....No Beading

Justify Full I like to bead as I go along but I can't find my NEW Tacky Bob. I have several Tacky Bob's but they are in use with other projects and I KNOW I have another brand new Tacky Bob somewhere in this house. So I tried to bead from the bead packets and within 15 minutes I had a whole packet spilled on my couch. So I've just been stitching, have ordered a TB on line and am waiting for it to come in. I LOVE stitching this piece but do need to move onto another piece for a bit.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

A Finish from 2010

This is a piece I finished in 2010 and it somehow found it's way into my closet. I am someone who usually gets my pieces framed within weeks of finishing them, not sure what happened with this one. This was a fun stitch, except for the 1/1. I'm not fond of 1/1, especially on 40ct linen. This is part of a series, I have several of the other charts but I'm not sure I'll get them stitched this year :)
